::WeblogWednesday:: 8.16.06 Yummy Islamic Goodness from around the Web
Over time all social groups naturally develop generally accepted practices and social norms. The "blogosphere" is no exception.
In the world of compulsive bloggers, it is an accepted practice to list a ton of links to other weblogs or websites that the blogger finds interesting. These links are cast into the sidebar and delegated to the halls of the indistinct. Some are visited, some are disregarded. The problem with this, is that many of these sites are really good. Some are notable and worth at least an offhanded visit. Others are remarkably useful and beneficial resources that definitely deserve a spot in your bookmarks or a subscription via RSS feed.
I have taken it upon myself, dear reader, to wade through the mire and uncover for your intellectual fancy, some of these on-line gems. Every week Insha'Allah, I will choose and attempt to give a brief synopsis of a particularly above average blog. I'll also try to explain why it might be worthwhile for you to visit.
As the name suggests, I will present my findings every Wednesday Insha'Allah.
So, on to the business at hand. Here is this weeks offering........
First off, let me begin (after Bismillah) with a big Ma'sha'Allah!! This blog is beautiful as well as functional. Izzy Mo's Blog is both aesthetically pleasing and easy to navigate. So much so, that I nearly missed my bedtime because I spent so much time wandering around the site.
The author describes the blog as "Musings on Islam, art, culture, beauty and other random tidbits from a Southern-born Muslima and Artist". These "Musings" are all together rich, colorful, and unique while at the same time down to earth and inviting. To put it simply, Izzy Mo's Blog is a Islamically tinted fusion of all of those things that everyone loves about southerners.
Most of the posts are written in a conversational tone that engages the reader in much the same way that an old friend that you grew up with would. Its hard not to smile while reading a blog that has categories like "Muslimaz", "Rant Box" and my personal favorite, "Da Haters". But don't let the light tone fool you, Izzy Mo weighs in with some moving and passionate posts on "Anti-War" and "American Society". I also found a very useful resource post under the "Islamic History" category that list some notable Muslims of African decent (and yes the Shehu is listed here).
Overall, due to it's fun feel, useful information and total absence of pretentiousness, I'd say that Izzy Mo's blog is definitely Bookmark and Feed-worthy.

Written by one of the most remarkable scholars from the city of Tarim, this book is immediately appealing because of its title. Upon further investigation, it becomes clear that it is a very powerful and profound roadmap for increasing both spiritual and finacial wealth. Based on tradtional sources and definately not a scam. In depth review coming soon Insha'llah.
Asalaamu alaikum.
Thank you for this lovely review of IzzyMo's blog. She is a very dear sister-friend to me and I agree with you. Her blog is one of my daily (I admit it, several times daily) must-reads and I recommend it to everyone!
